There has been some serious motorcycle accidents on some local Poker and Benefit Rides. Please be careful if you ride in a Run.  A Poker/ Benefit Ride is no time to sight-see, or to relax. Be on your guard at all times. Expect the unexpected at all times.  If you don't wish to ride, please drop by these Poker / Benefit Runs and make a donation.

Make sure you are prayed up and right with God before mounting your Bike, it just maybe your last ride. Riding is a very serious business,...... be very careful

                                            Biker's Prayer

Dear God my Father, forgive me of my sins, because I am not perfect,  and let your hand be on the throttle of my life.  When I need to go forward, open it up!

Keep my eyes focused in front of me, so that I don't become lost.

When I need to turn, point me in the right direction.

Show me the signs along the way, and give me the widsom to take the right road.

When I need to change gears, remind me to use the clutch.

When I need to stop, put on the brakes.

When I ride into the darkness, be my headlight.

Encourage me to take time daily to fill my tank with your Spirit.

Protect me from the road debris thrown at me by the enemy

and guide me safely around the potholes in my paths.

Forgive me when I ride off course, as I forgive others that may unintentionally cut me off.

Forever ride by my side as my personal Road Captain.

In Jesus' Name I pray....Amen

Saturday -- August 7: Relay For Life Bike Ride & Show .

Ride starts & stops at the Patrick Springs Vol. Fire Dept. (Rte 680 -- Springs Road). Bike Show starts at 9:00 am, registration at 11:00am, ride starts 1:00 pm. $15,00 per bike. Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Desserts & Drinks will be for sale.

Come out & support a very important cause!!!!!!! All proceeds go to the Relay For Life. Information:

July 31  Adam Childress Benefit Jam Fest.

                            Location: 1830 W. Main Street Salem, Virginia

A motorcycle benefit ride will kick off the event. Rider Registration starts at 7:30am. Donation of $20 per motorcycle. Ride begins at 9:00am. Ride will last about 2 hours. Details of the route and maps will be provided at Registration. Starting Location: 1830 W. Main St Salem, Va. 24153 (Old Mitsubishi dealer across from Walmart). Adam Childress is a police officer with the Roanoke County Police Department in Roanoke Virginia. While on a call on May 22, 2010 Adam became extremely dizzy and nearly lost consciousness. He was able to call for help on his radio and was transported to the hospital. It was determined that Adam had a re-emergence of cancer requiring immediate treatment. Adam had only been back on the job for a few months after a five-month fight with the cancer. He is currently out of work for treatment and will not be able to return for several months.

August 22         Benefit Poker Run For Dale Jones

        Pembroke Fire Department Recreation Building on Cascade Drive

Giles Lifesaving and Rescue Squad is hosting a Poker Run to help raise money for one of our own. Dale Jones, a member of Giles Rescue and Glen Lyn Fire Dept was in a serious ATV accident and now needs our help with medical bills after spending nearly a month in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The run will begin at Pembroke Fire Department Recreation Building on Cascade Dr. in Pembroke, VA. Registration will begin at 10 AM with the first vehicle out at 11 AM and the last one out at 12:30 PM. The route takes you through Newport VA, New Castle VA, Paint Bank VA, Union WV, Rich Creek VA, and back to Pembroke VA. Activities will include a DJ, Door Prizes, Raffles and prizes for the BEST and WORST hands. A meal of Hot Dogs, Chips and a Drink will be at the half-way point for $5. Cost in $10 per operator and $5 per each additional hand.
